Getting Started

Gone But Remembered is a digital memory preservation service that delivers cherished photos of your loved ones to your phone or email on a schedule you choose. Each photo comes with AI-generated context about when and where it was taken, helping you reconnect with precious memories in a gentle, meaningful way.

Choose a subscription plan (Remembrance, Legacy, or Forever), upload photos of your loved one, set your preferred delivery schedule, and start receiving memories. The whole setup takes about 5-10 minutes.

You can upload JPG, PNG, HEIC, and WEBP images. We recommend photos with good quality and clear subjects. Photos with EXIF data (date, location) will receive richer AI-generated context.

Photo limits depend on your subscription: Remembrance allows 25 photos, Legacy allows 100 photos, and Forever allows 300 photos. All photos are securely stored and backed up.

Memory Deliveries

Based on your chosen schedule, we select a photo from your library and deliver it via email or SMS. Each delivery includes the photo along with AI-generated context about the moment - including details like the weather that day, historical events, and a thoughtful caption.

Photos are randomly selected from your library by default to keep each delivery a surprise. However, you can mark certain photos as favorites for priority delivery, or exclude photos you don't want delivered.

Deliveries are typically sent in the morning (around 8-9 AM in your timezone). Premium users can customize their preferred delivery time.

Yes, you can pause deliveries anytime from your dashboard. This is helpful if you need a break or are traveling. Resume whenever you're ready.

Premium users can set up automatic milestone deliveries for special dates like birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays. On these days, we select particularly meaningful photos and include extra-special context.

AI Features

Our AI analyzes each photo to understand its contents, then combines this with any available metadata (date, location) and historical context (weather, events) to create a thoughtful, personalized caption that brings the memory to life.

Yes! While our AI does its best, you know your memories best. You can edit any caption from your photo dashboard, and your edits will be used in future deliveries.

AI stories are a Premium feature that generates longer, narrative-style descriptions (150-300 words) instead of short captions. These stories paint a more vivid picture of the moment captured.

Our AI analyzes the visual content of your photos to generate captions. This processing is done securely, and we never share your photos or personal data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

Billing & Subscription

We offer three plans: Remembrance ($49/year) with 25 photos and 5 family shares, Legacy ($79/year) with 100 photos, 20 family shares, and crop/rotate editing, and Forever ($129/year) with 300 photos, 50 family shares, all editing features, and SMS delivery included.

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through Stripe, our secure payment processor. Your payment information is never stored on our servers.

Yes, you can cancel anytime from your account settings. You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period.

Your photos are always yours. If you cancel, your photos remain safely stored. You can still view and download all your photos, but deliveries will pause until you renew.

We offer a full refund within the first 7 days of any paid subscription if you're not satisfied. After 7 days, you can cancel anytime but refunds are not available for the current billing period.

Privacy & Security

Absolutely. Your photos are private by default and only accessible by you (and family members you explicitly invite). We use enterprise-grade encryption to protect your data both in transit and at rest.

Only you and people you invite to your Family Circle can see your photos. Our team only accesses your data when you specifically request support assistance.

Yes. You can delete individual photos anytime, or request complete account deletion which removes all your data from our systems within 30 days.

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers in the United States. We use industry-leading cloud infrastructure with regular backups and redundancy.

Family Circles

A Family Circle lets you share a photo library with family members. Everyone in the circle receives memory deliveries from the same collection of photos, helping families stay connected through shared memories.

The number of family members you can invite depends on your plan: Remembrance allows 5 members, Legacy allows 20 members, and Forever allows up to 50 members.

Yes, if the library owner enables this option. Family members can contribute up to 5 photos per memorial they have access to.

Tribute Pages & Guestbook

A Tribute Page is a free public memorial for your loved one. It includes their photo, dates, an obituary you can write (or generate with AI), and a shareable link. Friends and family can visit the page, view photos, and sign a guestbook. Every plan includes unlimited Tribute Pages at no extra cost.

Go to "Tribute Page" in your sidebar, select a memorial, and enable the public tribute option. You can write an obituary yourself or use our AI to help generate one. Add photos, set display preferences, and share the unique link with friends and family.

Yes! Tribute Pages are completely free for all users on any plan. We believe everyone deserves a beautiful way to honor and remember their loved ones without financial barriers.

The Guestbook allows visitors to your Tribute Page to leave condolences, memories, or messages of support. You control whether entries require your approval before appearing publicly. You can also disable the guestbook entirely if you prefer.

Yes. By default, new guestbook entries require your approval before they appear publicly. You can approve, reject, or delete entries from your dashboard. You can also turn off moderation to let all entries appear automatically.

Tribute Pages are public and can be viewed by anyone with the link. They may also appear in our Featured Tributes carousel on the homepage. If you want to keep your memorial private, simply leave the Tribute Page disabled.

Managing Photo Storage

All photos in your library count toward your plan's photo limit, including photos you've excluded from deliveries. However, photos in the trash do NOT count toward your limit.

To free up storage, you can permanently delete photos from the Trash. Photos you've excluded from deliveries still count toward your limit - if you no longer want them, move them to Trash and then permanently delete them.

Go to your Photos page, click the "Trash" tab to view trashed photos, select the photos you want to remove permanently, and click "Delete Forever". This action cannot be undone.

Trashed photos are automatically permanently deleted after 30 days. You can restore them before then, or delete them immediately to free up storage right away.
